Goa Holiday Guide

Just a nine hour flight from the UK is a paradise called Goa. Blue skies, fantastic sandy beaches on the Arabian Sea, friendly locals and hours of warm sunshine make Goa a perfect winter sun destination. Goa has some of the best beaches in India and the friendly locals will give you a warm welcome. Goa is an exotic destination with palm fringed soft beaches and fantastic sunsets, ideal for a holiday of a lifetime.

The Portuguese have had a lot of influence over Goa, they ruled until as recent as 1961, having conquered in 1510. They built churches, roads and introduced Christianity to the area.

Goa offers some of the best beaches in India. Goa offers some fantastic food from local curry dishes to fantastic seafood including tiger prawns, lobsters and kingfish. Many restaurants will barbecue in tandoori ovens as soon as local fisherman bring them to the kitchen. Food and drink is very reasonably priced and a full meal with wine can be purchased from as little £5!

Travelling around Goa is easy and very cheap. A local bus fare will cost you a few pence and taxi fares cost around £3 for a short journey. We have many cheap holidays to Goa on our website. We can offer late deals to Goa as well as discount on holidays booked in advance to Goa and other Indian Ocean resorts.

Goa Resorts

The north coast of Goa offers the most resorts and is the most commercial part of this wonderful destination. The most popular resorts in this area are Baga, Calangute and Candolim.
The central resorts of Goa offer tranquil beaches and have a much more relaxed way of life. An ideal base from which to explore all of Goa, nightlife tends to be hotel based.

Anjuna, Goa

The resort of Anjuna offers two beaches. One is small and rocky below a cliff top with a few small stalls and couple of restaurants. The other is sandy and is home to the famous flea market which is held on Wednesday's. The market is said to be one of the most colourful in Goa, where Indian women sell bedclothes and sarongs and hippies sell there homemade wares. The southern resorts in Goa are less commercialised and tend to be a little more expensive to get to. Main resorts include Cavelossim Beach and Benaulim.

Arpora, Goa

Arpora is situated behind Baga beach and is a much quieter resort. Arpora is less commercialised with a lot of local activity taking place, quiet enough to relax but close enough to Baga not to bore. Baga is around a 5 minute drive from the resort.

Baga Beach, Goa

The beach at Baga is one of the busiest beaches in Goa. Amongst the beach shacks there are lines of sunloungers and sunshades available to hire. Fisherman fish from the beach and you may spot the odd cow lying in the sunshine!

One of the liveliest resorts in Goan terms for nightlife, popular bars include Titos and Mambo's bar.

Calangute, Goa

The resort of Calangute is almost as busy as Baga, but as you head out of the resort you will find a quieter stretch of beach, away from the main hustle of tourists. There are some shops bars and restaurants which appeal to all tastes and age ranges.

Candolim, Goa

Candolim has a wide beach which has a number of beach bars set in and around the sand dunes. Local fishermen park their boats on the beach and can be seen during the day talking amongst each other about their catch. Nightlife is more relaxed here compared to neighbours Baga and Calangute, but there are some good restaurants that serve curries and local seafood.

Cavelossim, Goa

Situated in South Goa, Cavelossim has become more popular over the last few years. The resort has grown with lots of new hotels and a big increase in shops, bars and restaurants.
Cavelossim is ideal for a relaxing break with a little bit of life but nothing too busy. A large white-sand beach attracts beach lovers back to this resort year after year.
